STAIRWAY MAPS
Stairs provide a means of travel in buildings, movement from one area to another, and as a connection between spaces in our own homes. In this series of photographs, stairs represent the idea of connections and journeys. Whenever I travel to a new place, photographing interesting architecture is one of the first ideas I am drawn to. In this series I have assembled a collection of stairways from various locations that I have called home – Jackson, Tennessee, Memphis, Tennessee, and the campus of Union University. The photos are aligned in an abstract way to form one continuous line of stairs and railing. The stairs are representative of different experiences that continue to be added to my memory as a travel forward.
